Scott Upgrades – Update

With FDIC behind us, we can bring you some additional details about the latest changes and updates to the Scott Safety SCBA fleet. As mentioned in previous editions, the NFPA 1981 & 1982 2013 Editions are bringing revolutionary changes to improve firefighter safety. Such additions, include the increase from 25% to 33% on the End-of-Service Time Indicator (EOSTI) or Low Air Alarm, and the flame and heat resistance offered in the new AV3000 HT facepiece.

Some additional updates from Scott in 2013 include the introduction of the all new Scott Air-Pak X3. The X3 combines the proven technology of Scott with newly designed features, such as the back plate and low profile design. In addition, with the new NFPA standard, comes increased and standardized voice communication testing. As a result of this change in testing procedures, there is an expectation of a 25% increase in the quality of fireground team communications, compared to existing products.

With the 2013 updated going into effect on August 31, 2013, it is imperative that Scott SCBA users analyze their long-term plan for their existing SCBA. Current Scott 2007 Edition upgrade kits, will only be available for order through approximately June of 2013.
