Ridgewood NJ FD Gear & Bailout

The Ridgewood NJ Fire Department, through a FEMA Grant, has taken delivery of new turnout gear and emergency escape, bailout systems for its entire department. The turnout gear is made up of the Globe G-Xcel line including the Globe IH II Internal Harness pants. The G-Xcel design includes a lightweight and flexible jacket which gives firefighters more overlap where it’s needed. In addition, the pants provide a low-rise style fit, for comfort where you need it, without sacrificing safety and overlap with the jacket.

Through AAA Emergency and RIT Safety Solutions, fire departments are able to pick and customize the bailout and emergency escape system they feel best fits their manpower, community, and existing equipment. After extensive research and internal testing, the Ridgewood FD leadership chose to invest in the RIT Lumbar Bailout System. The lumbar system offers the same great lightweight and compact Kevlar tubular webbing and the RIT FIRE AL 2 descent device available in the best-selling RIT Pocket Pack. However, the system slides into a hip sleeve, distributing the weight of the system throughout the body.

Special thanks to Chief James Van Goor and his committee in selecting this industry leading equipment. The standardized compliment of equipment will improve the safety and effectiveness of Ridgewood firefighters now and in the years to come.
